We hope you dive, jump, soar into a new way of thinking about your life. Here are some ideas to get you thinking about your own FitStyle. If you already embrace the life, good for you, keep it up and we hope you can inspire others to find their own FitStyle too!
Everyone is busy and to many, the concept of a healthy lifestyle seems so wonderful, but yet so far away. With work, kids, household upkeep etc, it is a challenge enough for many to even get a regular workout in! But you CAN do this! It is a matter of changing your outlook and focusing on fitness and health becoming your lifestyle. When you make the transition to FitStyle, you will be amazed at how easy it can be. It just replaces your old routine, your old lifestyle. If family is a concern for you, plan your family time around being active. Pair eating with activity, like a bike ride followed by grillin’ kebabs, or a swim and crazy salad night, where everyone can build their own salad from tons of delicious fixin’s. You'll not only help keep pounds off but really embrace how much better food can be prepared and how much better it makes you feel when it is healthy and tasty! Make adjustments to foods you and your family already love. Many of your favorite family recipes can be tweaked to be healthy, tasty versions of the original. Make cooking light and healthy a fun experience for you and who ever you are cooking for and look for ways to make being active fun and something you can't wait to do!
If hosting social gatherings centered around food is your idea of a good time, use it to educate yourself and others about a healthy way to eat good food, that tastes great too! Organize dinner parties around being active, like a long walk, jog, hike or bike ride, and make menu selections light, delicious and healthy! Eat fresh and with as much emphasis on whole foods as possible, avoiding processed foods, additives and refined starches and sugars. Try hosting a Salsa party where everyone invited has to bring their own creative, healthy salsa variety! Everyone will enjoy it and you can exchange recipes too!
Get out and just do it! Pick out an event you never thought you would, could or should do and do it! Have you always watched those bike fanatics ride by, all Lance-like, balking at their tight and highly visible tops and lycra padded bike shorts? While inside wondering what it would feel like to be on a bike out on the open road? This is your time to check it out…whatever activity excites you or has you curious, research it, learn about it and go for it! Go indoor rock climbing, take a yoga/Pilates class, kickboxing class or challenge your mate to round of golf! Most places where these activities take place offer programs for beginners and if equipment is involved, you can almost always rent what you need to give it a whirl! Make this time your season of DOING! That's FitStyle.
Healthy living extends beyond eating and working out to how you live, spiritually and physically as well. Do what you can to connect to others with a mindset of helping and serving. Volunteer for or participate in charity fundraising events, such as 5K walk/runs. Just about every weekend you can find some type if event benefiting organizations like Boys and Girls clubs, local animal shelters, women’s and homeless shelters, food banks and dozens of cancer and other serious disease research organizations, the list goes on and on. Why not make your donation one that fits your FitStyle too? Help others, help the cause and be healthy and active doing it! If you have never run a day in your life, don’t worry, regardless of your fitness level most events have different lengths and types of activities for you to participate in.
Another way to stay fit is by having yourself and the home front in order. There is an old saying that says something to the extent of if your home is cluttered so will your mind be. Probably came from a Moms Anonymous group, but a valid point anyway! If your house is a mess, it’s hard to have a place to relax and rejuvenate so you can get out and be active. Have a house “clean out day”, ditching the unused clutter and old clothes that haven’t seen daylight since legwarmers were popular! Clean and organize so you feel good about leaving and coming home to your domain, creating a warm, inviting and relaxing space to call home. Donate unwanted items to places like Goodwill or Salvation Army. This way you are paying it forward whenever you can and someone else might just need those items. Think Green! Do what you can do limit your global footprint and become knowledgeable about being eco-friendly. Most of your energy companies produce information on how to help conserve energy and many major companies have paperless services that you can participate in to help as well. Recycle when you can and be aware of wasteful usage of valuable resources, like water, energy and paper products! All of this is FitStyle, healthy living, living right! We hope you find your FitStyle and embark on the path of health living! Cheers!
